Using Australian wool in children’s clothing makes a lot of sense. Australian Merino wool is luxuriously gentle against a baby’s skin, can ‘breathe’ (unlike synthetics such as polyester), and, due to its complex coil like fibres can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp. Merino wool reacts to changes in body temperatures, keeping baby at a constant body temperature, warm when cold and releasing heat and moisture when hot. This limits heat rashes in children with sensitive skins.
Babies often wake due to cold in the middle of the night after kicking off their covers. The woolbabe sleeping bag eliminates this problem as baby will be snug and secure in his/her sleep bag.
Woolbabe uses only natural fibres. We do not use synthetics which do not ‘breathe’ and can irritate baby’s skin and cause over-heating. The fabrics are beautifully soft using Merino wool and wool/cotton blend fabrics and 100% wool filling . And of course, we use only Australian wool.
Yes! Wool is a natural fire retardant. Woolbabe does not use flammable polyester in their garments, only wool & cotton. The baby sleeping bags have been rigorously fire tested & evaluated by an independant body to ensure that they comply Australian standard AS/NZS 1249-2003.
Woolbabe garments are fully machine washable & can be safely tumble dried. Try and limit this as much as possible to maximise the longevity of the garment.
